Polish President Among 87 Killed in Russian Plane Crash

Lech Kaczynski, 60, who died today, along with his wife

According to the Polish Foreign Ministry, a Russian plane crash today saw all 87 passengers on board killed, including Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, and his wife.

The Polish Deputy Finance Minister Andrzej Kremer was also killed in the crash, which took place in the fog 1.5 kilometers from Smolensk airport, in Russia.

Russian News agency, Russia-24, interviewed a local Governer, who reported that “”There were no survivors,” after the plane “crashed down and broke into pieces.”

The Polish President was flying to Russia to commererate the death of over 22,000 Poles in Karyn under the Soviet regime 70 years ago.
