Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced the release of its Year of the Dragon Collection in time for Chinese New Year celebrations, which start on the 23rd January 2012.
Designed by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke team, the collection features a suite of unique detailing and design, including a hand-painted dragon on the side of each Phantom or Phantom Extended Wheelbase, inspired by the Forbidden City in Beijing. The dragon also appears on each headrest, hand-embroidered in four thread colours: Tan, Golden Sand, Black and White.

The four doorsills feature exclusive illuminated tread plates with ‘Year of the Dragon 2012’ highlighted in LED lighting. Customers will also be able to choose from modern or traditional marquetry to match their choice of veneer.
Other unique features include a dragon inlay on the passenger panel of the car along with the Phantom model name, also applied in gold. Rear seat passengers will be able to take advantage of the two hand-stitched cushions supplied with every car, which are embroidered with double R-R logos and piping.

The Asia Pacific market (led by China) is rapidly gaining in importance for Rolls-Royce, whose sales leaped by 170 per cent there in the first six months of this year. They now sell more cars in the Asia Pacific region than in the UK, for the first time in the company’s history.
