Alexis Mabille’s collection for Winter 2010 made full use of lace and his signature motif – the bow tie. Created as an ensemble, many of the items in the series are intended to be interchangeable as well as customisable.
To this end, Alexis Mabille offers his clients the opportunity to attend his studio in Paris for personal fittings and meetings to customise colour and fabrics.
Exuberant silhouettes from full skirts to long gowns or fluffy shoulders make these pieces well suited to the modern woman. Each outfit may be altered for occasions of every kind. The colour schemes range from Georgian to ultra-modern.
At the cocktail presentation, Mabille placed a golden lady with gigantic headdress outside of the hotel Angelina on the rue de Rivoli in Paris’ most opulent district.
Crowds gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the illustrious guests. Veuve Clicquot and canapés were served to members of the fashion industry from Hong Kong, America, the UK and, of course, France.
Alexis Mabille himself mixed with the crowd and presented his collection on mannequins with dramatic uplighting. One buyer from New York proclaimed that she was going to order the black wool tuxedo and frilled pink organza blouse, whereas other guests were more interested in the full black lace skirt and corset.
