Shawish, the designers of a £43 million all-diamond ring, are set to exhibit their latest collections at London Jewellery Week on 6th – 12th June 2011. The festival of all that glitters will be hosted at venues throughout the UK capital.
Shawish’s collection includes; rings with colourful interchangeable feathers, domed sapphires filled with crushed diamonds, and jewel encrusted mushrooms – lending a somewhat Alice in Wonderland quality to the fanciful designs.
The jewellery label is housed at a flagship store and studio in Geneva’s old town. Shawish secured the copyright for the all-diamond in 2010 in Switzerland. The idea was presented in a short film shown to industry insiders on 14th April 2011 in London.
It took a full year of work to secure the copyright for the diamond design and Shawish had to engage in rigorous testing to successfully carve a precision circle using specialist laser equipment. The knowledge gained in this process will be used in the manufacture of the final commission, which has not yet begun.
Shawish is now in search of the perfect hand for which to create the £43 million, 150-carat treasure. The work will begin on the ambitious project once it has been commissioned. Mohamed and Majdy Shawesh are the brothers behind the brand. They serve jointly in the roles of CEO & President from their headquarters in Geneva.
