Hasbro Releases Transformers Toys Ahead of Spielberg Film Release

Hasbro has announced that Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys will be released in May, well ahead of the July 2011 opening of the Spielberg film in the USA.

The “Mechtech” versions of the toys will include interchangeable weapons, as well as lights and sounds on the Leader class or the ability to transform into vehicles on the Voyager class. Prices start at $11.99.

The “Cyberverse” version of the toys is a collectible, which converts more easily from robot to vehicle. All types of the toys include the main characters such as Optimus Prime and Megatron.

The company has also released a range of Transformers-themed masks which incorporate 3D glasses to provide a light-hearted way to view the new film. Cinema-goers may choose to watch the film as Optimus Prime or Bumblebee.
