Gaming: Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 18th, 2011. Two new characters have just been announced for the game: Phoenix Force and Mike Haggar. Here’s what Capcom have to say about the characters in their latest game:

Mutant Jean Grey became the receptacle for the powerful Phoenix Force, granting her near god-like powers when it becomes fully active, as it unleashes the fury of the Dark Phoenix when Jean is knocked out with a full Hyper Combo gauge. Other Marvel characters include Storm, She-Hulk, Magneto, M.O.D.O.K., Spider-Man, X-23, Dormammu, Thor, Deadpool, Hulk, Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Doom and Super-Skrull.

Mike Haggar is a former wrestler and mayor of Metro City. He often takes to the street to deal with Metro City’s gang problem. He’ll be joined by Capcom comrades Crimson Viper, Zero, Arthur, Nathan “Rad” Spencer, Wesker, Tron Bonne, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, Dante, Ryu, Morrigan, Chris Redfield, Felicia, Trish and Chun-Li.

Marvel Versus Capcom 3 is powered by an advanced version of MT Framework, the engine used in Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2. The fighting allows for aerial combos, hyper combos and other original systems. 3-on-3 Tag Team Fighting allows players to build their own perfect team as well as use Assist Attacks and each character’s special moves to create their own unique fighting style.

The graphics deliberately blur the boundaries between 2D and 3D with a special “moving comic” style.
