Football: UEFA Champions League 2010 Semi-Final Fixtures Confirmed

Tonight saw the second Semi-Final of the 2010 UEFA Champions League confirmed when Lyon and Bayern Munich booked their place in the next round with aggregate and away goals victories in their Quarter-Final matches.

Interestingly, both sides progressed tonight despite losing by one goal in their second leg matches away from home: Lyon were beaten 1-0 in Bordeaux while Bayern Munich lost 3-2 in Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.

Bayern Munich overturned a three goal deficit this evening – and came back from being down two aggregate goals -to record their 4-4 aggregate result, which was enough to take them through with a superior number of ‘away’ goals.

Both Bayern and Olympique Lyonnais join Barcelona and Inter Milan, who qualified yesterday evening, as the four semi-finalists in football’s biggest club tournament.
