Fashion Winter 2010: Capes

Capes are in for Winter 2010. From silk bow tie couture to finest alpaca wool, there’s a cape for every taste when the weather turns cold.

Our first pick is from Alexis Mabille’s haute couture collection. Teamed with a long draped gown, this cape provides colour and cover for those attending balls and receptions during the festive season.

Second in line are luxury alpaca wool designs from Magenta 8. Straight from the Andean highlands this fine fibre is even warmer than cashmere and does not contain lanolin – making it perfect for sensitive skin.

“Moving into the new season I wanted to create a special piece that is wearable for women of all shapes and sizes with a feminine, chic edge. I think Magenta 8 has achieved this with our belted cape,” says the founder, Giovanna Velasquez.

Finally, a top end cape for girls is available through Anne Valérie Hash, capturing the playfulness of this ancient Winter fashion staple.
