Motorexpo, the world’s largest free motoring event, opened on 20th June 2011 at Brookfield Place, Toronto, Canada.
As with all Motorexpo events, entrance to the Toronto event is completely free and there are no tickets and no queues. Visitors just arrive at the venue, collect a free copy of The Directory, the official Motorexpo show guide, and enjoy the various vehicle displays.
Visitors to the show have the chance to examine the latest motoring trends in a relaxed environment – and even get behind the wheel to test drive several new models including vehicles from Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Ferrari, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Saab and Tesla.
Highlights include the new Jaguar XJ range including the Supersport, Range Rover Evoque and all-electric cars such as the Tesla and Mitsubishi i-MiEV.
The Buick Regal is also on show – the North American version of the Opel Insignia and touted as the 2011 Automobile Journalists Association of Canada Best New Family Car Over $30,000. The most powerful production Cadillac ever, the CTS-V coupé, which set its record at the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, will be present at the exhibition with a 556 hp supercharged V8 engine and the ability to reach 96 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Running until Friday 24th June 2011, the inaugural Toronto Motorexpo marks the latest achievement in the global expansion of Motorexpo, adding to the existing event calendar that features shows in London, England, Los Angeles and New York.
Following the success of their cavalcade to mark the opening of the 2011 London Motorexpo at Canary Wharf earlier in June 2011, the opening day of the Toronto show saw a celebration of the iconic Jaguar E-Type. An 8-mile procession through the heart of the city marked the 50th anniversary of this iconic vehicle.
Commenting on the launch of the first ever Toronto show Graeme Carver, Motorexpo CEO said;

The worldwide Motorexpo format is modelled on the successful Canary Wharf, London, England shows that have taken place annually since 1996, welcoming over 410,000 visitors, making it the United Kingdom’s largest motor show.
In addition to Toronto and London, Motorexpo is now a firm fixture on the Los Angeles and New York calendars having been produced for the second annual showing earlier this year in California and set to return to the World Financial Center in Lower Manhattan for the 4th annual New York Motorexpo from Sunday 18th September until Friday 24th September 2011. The 2012 Motorexpo season starts in Los Angeles on 7th May 2012 and moves on to London on the 11th June.
The Motorexpo Toronto is open to the public from Monday 20th June 2011 until Friday 24th June 2011 at Brookfield Place, in the heart of the financial district, bounded by Bay, Wellington, Yonge and Front Streets, in Toronto.
