BBC Good Food Show arrives in Glasgow

Enthusiastic foodies can enjoy a whole host of culinary delights this weekend as the BBC’s Good Food Show Scotland visits Glasgow’s SECC for the third year running.

Food and drink producers from across the country and all over the globe are joining together to showcase their very best products; from fine wines to local ciders and artisan cheese to organic beef.

Cookery demonstrations and tasting sessions with celebrated chefs and knowledgeable foodies will take place all weekend. In the Supertheatre, some of our best known TV chefs will be cooking up a storm. Take your seats to enjoy the tastes and smells as well as the sights and sounds of Gordon Ramsay, James Martin and The Hairy Bikers as they cook up some of their favourite autumn and winter recipes.

Meanwhile, home grown talents Tom Kitchin and Martin Wishart will take to the stage in the main hall as part of Waste Aware Scotland’s Love Food Hate Waste campaign. Scottish households currently throw away over half a million tonnes of food each year, but these simple recipes from Michelin-starred chefs will not only show you how to make the most of fresh ingredients, but how to use up any leftovers creatively.

Scotland is lucky to have such a wealth of fresh produce right on its doorstep and the Good Food Show features some of the very best the nation has to offer. Well known favourites like Arbroath Smokies, Dunsyre Blue cheese and Mackies Ice Cream are all here alongside tiny local producers of preserves, handmade pies and organic sourdough bread.

Whether you already take an active interest in where your food comes from or fancy learning more about food issues and environmental sustainability; the Good Food Show will be able to help. Why not go along and chat to volunteers at the Slow Food UK stand or visit Food Lovers Britain, an online directory of restaurants and producers which meet unique standards of quality and local and regional sourcing.

Perhaps best of all for many of us is the opportunity to sample what’s on offer and, if you like what you taste, there are plenty of special offers and bargains to be had. From tried and tested ingredients to new combinations of flavours, visitors are guaranteed to leave satisfied.

The Good Food Show Scotland is at Glasgow’s SECC today until 6pm and tomorrow 10am-5pm. Tickets start from £15.
