Burnley and Watford shared a point at Turf Moor on their opening fixture of the 2011/12 Npower Championship, on Saturday 6th August 2011, as the sides drew 2-2.
It could have been far worse for the home team, however, for Burnley found themselves 2 goals behind with twenty minutes remaining following goals from Forsyth (45) and Yeates (70).
Late goals from Austin (77) and Treacy (84) put smiles back on the home fans’ faces, though, and meant that honours were even come the final whistle.
Burnley, having enjoyed the majority of possession, were well worth their point, though Watford will be disappointed not to have made a 2-0 lead stick despite stretching their advantage in the final quarter.
Both of these sides will expect to finish in the top half of the Championship, if not in the playoff positions and, on the evidence of this match, both possess enough attacking threat to make that happen. Burnley may worry, though, that they appeared a little lightweight, in particular, in defense.
