It was a big night for the film Nomadland in a scaled-back Oscars ceremony.
The film won Best Picture and Chinese-born Chloe Zhao, who told the story of financially stretched van dwellers in the United States, has become the first Asian woman – and only the second woman ever – to win Best Director at the Academy Awards.
Frances McDormand won her third Best Actress Oscar for her role in the film.
Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor for his role in The Father.
