Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday to speak about the damage to his country’s civilian infrastructure from Russian missile strikes.
“Russia is following the items of their formula of terror,” Zelenskyy said in a translated video, addressing the international forum. “Ladies and gentlemen, in your midst you have a representative of the state that does not offer anything to the world but terror, destabilization and disinformation. Any Russian formula can offer nothing but this.”
A spokesperson for the U.S. mission to the UN said the U.S., Albania and Ukraine requested the previously unscheduled meeting at 4 p.m. local time on Wednesday to discuss “Russia’s massive missile strikes today damaging critical civilian infrastructure across Ukraine.”
Russia unleashed a missile barrage across Ukraine earlier in the day, forcing shutdowns of nuclear power plants and killing civilians in Kyiv.
