    As the world watched on, Ash Barty wrote herself into the history books, taking out her maiden Wimbledon ladies’ singles title on Saturday.

    The 25-year-old world number one became the first Australian woman to lift the Venus Rosewater dish since fellow Indigenous tennis star Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980.

    In Barty’s home city of Brisbane, fans came together at the Pat Rafter Arena to watch the game together, while Barty’s family gathered at home.
