A heavy sandstorm hit Beijing on March 15, 2021, shrouding the Chinese capital with a pale yellow haze. City authorities issued warnings to residents about sealing off their homes and wearing masks, as well as avoiding billboards and temporary structures which may be dislodged by strong winds. Officials said the storm, which has affected about 12 provinces in northern China, is the worst to hit the country in about 10 years.
