A French nun recognised as the world’s oldest person died aged 118 on January 17, 2023, in southern France. Lucile Randon, also known as Sister Andre, was born in Alès in the country’s southern Occitanie region on February 11, 1904. She passed away in her sleep at a nursing home in the Mediterranean port city of Toulon. Randon became the longest-living person on Earth in April 2022 after the death of Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman who was 119 years old.
