Global News published this video item, entitled “”World’s loneliest elephant” begins new life in Cambodia” – below is their description.
Kaavan, a 36-year-old bull elephant, began his new life in Cambodia this week by making contact with another elephant – the first time in eight years since his partner died in 2012.
The elephant was brought to an animal sanctuary in the country after efforts by animal rights groups and American singer Cher resulted in his relocation. It came months after Pakistan’s high court ruled the zoo in which Kaavan was living should be closed due to abysmal conditions as a result of systemic negligence.
2012 is a film directed by Roland Emmerich and released in 2009. The film depicts a natural disaster in which the Earth’s core heats up, causes unprecedented solar storms and ultimately wipes out most of the world’s population in a major flood.
