World sees largest daily increase in coronavirus cases

The world has seen the largest increase in a day in coronavirus cases with over a quarter of a million recorded.

The World Health Organisation estimates deaths now top 600,000.

Here in Britain, the number of deaths added was relatively low at 27.

As Boris Johnson says he doesn’t want to impose a second national lockdown, comparing it to a ‘nuclear deterrent’ , local lockdowns seem almost inevitable. But is our national test and trace system up to it?
