South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “With over 2.19 billion shots in arms, China has fully vaccinated 78 per cent of its population” – below is their description.

China had fully vaccinated about 78 per cent of its population against Covid-19 as of September 22, 2021, after getting two doses of the shots into the arms of 1.1 billion of the nation’s 1.41 billion people. Government figures as of September 25 said a total of 2.19 billion doses have been administered ahead of the week-long National Day holiday starting October 1. The nation has been stepping up efforts to fight the disease after a rising number of cases. On September 25, there were 29 new infections reported, including nine that were locally transmitted. Five of the local cases were in Xiamen, and another four were in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang. As home to 18.2 per cent of the world’s population, China has administered an estimated 35.7 per cent of all Covid-19 jabs worldwide, more than any other nation. President Xi Jinping said China will provide 2 billion doses of vaccine to other countries by the end of 2021, adding to the over 1.25 billion doses it had sent abroad as of September 26.
