RT published this video item, entitled “Winter makeover | Abandoned house turns into ice cave” – below is their description.
We often see what happens when nature takes over an abandoned building, but we don’t often get to witness the effects of nature’s winter makeover.
This apartment block near the town of Vorkuta, Russia, has stood undisturbed for years, having been abandoned by its residents when the nearby coal mine closed. Some of the apartments are still supplied with water, which has flooded from broken pipes around the building, helping to create the glacial exterior.
Don’t bother going indoors to warm up either, as the interior resembles Superman’s Fortress of Solitude rather than an apartment block. The mailboxes, stairs, and doorways are covered with snow and icicles, with discarded furniture having become solid blocks of ice.
Any future residents are going to need to install central heating, that’s for sure.
