Flames continued to burn through parts of Oregon and California on Friday, with a new blaze called the “Snow Fire” sparking to life Thursday near Palm Springs, Calif. close to the village of Snow Creek. Fire officials said the newest fire had burned 1,200 acres and was zero per cent contained by Thursday evening, prompting an evacuation order for residents. The new fire is just one of many burning across much of the U.S. West Coast, with fires in Oregon having killed 10 people so far and left more than 190,000 acres scorched. Gov. Kate Brown has called on U.S. President Donald Trump to issue a major disaster declaration for her state as a result.
