In the southwest of China’s Yunnan province, the city of Pu’er is bracing for the arrival of Asian wild elephants as the region heads into the harvest season in August 2022. Local authorities have installed warning signs and street lights to prevent human-elephant accidents, as the wild animals tend to forage for food on farmland.
