As England’s final restrictions are lifted, the scientist whose advice prompted the original lockdown in March last year, has told us that today’s opening up is a calculated risk.

Neil Ferguson – or Professor Lockdown as he became known – says there could, eventually, be as many as 200,000 cases a day.
