The Leizhou Peninsula is one of the few places in south China’s Guangdong Province where the Stone Dog is the patron saint. In the Qin and Han Dynasties, there was a tribe called Panhuman living here. They worshipped the dog totem, believing that the dog god was the ancestor of the guardian tribe. The existing stone dogs have different shapes, some are ugly and some are lovely.
