They’re a small, quiet group of victims, and they’re barely spoken about.
There are a few reasons why. Lack of data, stigma against speaking out, the fact that men often present as victims when in fact they’re the perpetrators, and the fact that the clear majority of people experiencing domestic abuse are women all contribute to the under-reporting of this issue.
And when the topic of domestic violence against men is raised, it so often gets lost in toxic cultural discourse.
ABC News reporter Hayley Gleeson has been researching male victims of domestic violence for several months. We’ve partnered up to take a look at what’s going on.
