In the Lebanese capital, recovery work is continuing more than a week after a deadly blast hit the city’s port area. The World Health Organization said more than half of Beirut’s 55 hospitals and healthcare facilities are “non-functional.” The city’s port has resumed partial operations to secure goods for local markets. The United Nations food agency has pledged to help get the port operational again. Germany’s top diplomat visited the city on Wednesday, pledging assistance and calling for reforms.
