Wang Yaping is now in the record books for becoming China’s first female astronaut to conduct extravehicular activities. She joined astronaut Zhai Zhigang on the November 8, 2021, spacewalk that lasted six hours and 25 minutes. It was the first spacewalk for the crew of the Shenzhou 13, which is conducting the third mission to construct additional components of China’s Tiangong space station.
