White Rock Lake Fire displaces families in Vernon as BC sees 1,528 fires so far this season

Global News published this video item, entitled “White Rock Lake Fire displaces families in Vernon as BC sees 1,528 fires so far this season” – below is their description.

Residents of Vernon, B.C. are being evacuated from their homes as thousands of wildfires burn across the province – including the White Rock Lake Fire.

For an eight-year-old girl named Bella who suffers from life-threatening seizures, she’s unaware of the evacuation after her family’s property was completely burned down. Her grandparents told her she’s going on a camping trip.

Meanwhile, favourable conditions over the past few days have allowed crews to get a better handle on a number of fires burning around the province — 1,528 fires so far this season.

But while some progress is being made, officials say the province is far from in the clear.

Global’s Emad Agahi reports.
