White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany held a media briefing on Thursday, days after the first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee and former vice-president Joe Biden. McEnany sparred with several journalists during the contentious briefing in which she took questions over the president’s lack of condemnation of white supremacists during the debate, as well as the criticism he faced for ignoring calls to not hold rallies due to COVID-19. She said several times that the president had denounced white supremacy and told the Proud Boys to “stand back” and “stand down.” McEnany also addressed the changes to the next presidential debate format. McEnany also claimed a double standard with those who are coming out against the president’s rally’s for packing thousands into tight spaces while promoting anti-racism protests at the same time.
