DW News published this video item, entitled “What’s to expect from Germany’s new government? | To the point” – below is their description.

Germany – and the world – are finally getting a look at the new government that will succeed Angela Merkel’s when she hands over the baton. With the pandemic accelerating the need for a smooth transition, the Social Democrats, Greens and liberal Free Democrats are beginning to reveal both priorities and differences.

The first three party coalition in over 60 years says it wants to take a chance on progress. Can the world’s fourth largest economy really afford to put values at the center of its foreign policy when it depends on trade with China and wants to cooperate with it on climate? How to deal with Russia, which is upping the pressure on Ukraine and supporting Belarus in destabilizing the EU? Clean energy, digitalization, immigration – change is needed on many fronts.
