What progress has been made in implementing the Uluru Statement from the Heart? | 7.30

ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “What progress has been made in implementing the Uluru Statement from the Heart? | 7.30” – below is their description.

On election night new Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made a commitment that the Labor Party would adopt the Uluru Statement from the Heart, in full. It’s been five years since the statement was released, with its goal of Indigenous recognition in the Constitution and an advisory First Nations voice to the parliament. Prime Minister Albanese would like to see a referendum in this term of government, so how likely is that?

Joining Leigh Sales to discuss the current state of affairs are Professor Peter Yu, the vice president of First Nations at the Australian National University; Dr Jackie Huggins, an historian who’s been working in Indigenous affairs for more than 40 years; and Dean Parkin, the director of From The Heart.
