China’s FAST, the world’s largest single-dish radio telescope, has opened to global scientists and is accepting observation applications from March 31. China’s “Sky Eye” has become more important to radio astronomy since Puerto Rico’s Arecibo telescope was damaged and became non-functional at the end of 2020. So what opportunities will China’s telescope offer for scientists and international cooperation? And what are they looking for out there?
