    An explosion at a central Queensland coal-fired power station on Tuesday afternoon triggered mass power outages statewide, from the NSW border to north of Cairns.

    The Callide Power Station, about 10 minutes east of Biloela, abruptly went offline just before 2:00pm after a fire was reported in a turbine hall, disrupting power to more than 470,000 customers.
