Western NSW COVID-19 Update: A man in his 60s from the Dubbo region, passed away at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. The man was Aboriginal, he was unvaccinated and had underlying health conditions.
27 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Western NSW Local Health District overnight.
Breakdown of the towns:
– Dubbo LGA – 17
– Bourke LGA – 6 (3 Enngonia)
– Bathurst LGA – 3
Walgett LGA – 1
Of these new cases:
– At least 8 were infectious in the community, 13 have been isolating, 6 still under investigation
– 12 household contacts, 5 linked to known case/cluster, 10 still under investigation
This brings the total number of cases in the Western NSW LHD to 885 (653 in Dubbo):
– 63% Indigenous
– 47% under 20
– 85% under 50
– 3% over 70 (31 patients)
24 COVID-positive patients are in hospital (17 in Dubbo), 5 patients are in ICU and 3 are ventilated.
488 people are currently being looked after as part of the COVID care in the community program. 48 additional people have been discharged from this program (total of 392 recovered).
The Far West LHD recorded 7 new cases, all of those in Wilcannia.
This is never an easy thing to talk about, but it is part of the stark reality around COVID-19. This is the third death recorded in Western NSW LHD.
