ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “‘We’re afraid of things we don’t understand’ Walter Isaacson on COVID vaccine hesitancy | The Drum” – below is their description.
The full potential of technology is often realised in times of crisis.
In the case of the COVID pandemic, it is the mRNA vaccine. Curiously enough, this modern medical miracle has been in development since the early 1980s, but it was only clear for use in humans since December last year.
One of the people at the forefront of this exploration is biochemist Jennifer Doudna.
In 2020 she, alongside another, won the Nobel Prize in chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR gene editing.
Her life and work has been incorporated in this book Code Breaker – The Drum caught up with author, Walter Isaacson.
