A New York City park that has struggled for 15 years to control invasive weeds in hard-to-access areas has called in some reinforcements – 24 very hungry goats. The two dozen animals from the Green Goats farm in New York were set loose on July 14, 2021, in a stretch of Riverside Park in Manhattan where they could munch on the invasive plants. The park’s president Dan Garodnick called the herd “naturally effective weed whackers” and a welcome alternative to herbicides.
