Watch again: Boris Johnson faces Sir Keir Starmer at PMQs in the House of Commons

Sir Keir Starmer’s first question at Prime Minister’s Questions was about Leicester, asking why the Government delayed 11 days before imposing restrictions.

Boris Johnson said the Government “first took notice” on June 8 and said that mobile testing units were sent in “shortly thereafter” and engaged “actively” with everybody responsible in Leicester.

“Unfortunately in Leicester we did not get the results we have seen elsewhere”, he said, which is why the lockdown was introduced. “We acted decisively and I think it was the right thing to do”.

During PMQs, Boris Johnson was also challenged on the crowds seen at Bournemouth beach a few days ago, as well as the test and trace ‘gap’ and his announcements about the UK’s economic recovery plan.
