‘Virus back under control’: Hancock claims areas could move down tiers for Christmas

Guardian News published this video item, entitled “‘Virus back under control’: Hancock claims areas could move down tiers for Christmas” – below is their description.

Matt Hancock has said the pandemic is ‘back under control’ as cases have reduced 30% in the past week in England.

The government is expected to look at the data on 16 December, and announce the results on 17 December, Hancock said, adding there is a realistic chance of some areas moving down a tier before Christmas as case rates are coming down.

Liverpool pulled down cases and went from tier 3 into tier 2, which Hancock hopes to see happening more broadly
