Southwest China’s Songlin Village in Yunnan Province was once an extremely impoverished area with over 2,000 registered impoverished individuals. Upon his arrival in 2018, First Secretary Yi Zhiqiang worked closely with the local Party committee and government, introducing outside investment and explaining jobs to villagers. The village shook off poverty in 2019 and as of 2020, at least one family member in each household has a job and there’s no dropout student in the village.
