Vigils were held across Canada on Monday for Sisters in Spirit Day to honour the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people. More than 1,200 Indigenous women and girls in Canada have gone missing or have been murdered since the 1980s and for decades, families and loved ones have grieved and called for greater recognition of the crisis.
Raquel Fletcher reports on the day drawing attention to the disproportionate violence they experience, and how they are trying to take their power back.
