Vienna shooting: Authorities believe main suspect acted alone in attack that killed 4

Global News published this video item, entitled “Vienna shooting: Authorities believe main suspect acted alone in attack that killed 4” – below is their description.

Austrian authorities currently believe the main suspect in the Vienna attack acted alone as investigators review 20,000 videos, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer said on Tuesday, adding police had arrested 14 people linked to the man. A 20-year-old Austrian-North Macedonian dual citizen, shot dead by police at the scene, is the chief suspect in the shooting which left four dead and 22 injured in the “tragic terror night,” Nehammer said. Officers raided 18 residences in their investigations. In his remarks, Nehammer praised “two Austrians with migrant backgrounds” who he said had pulled a seriously injured policeman out of the firing line. According to the interior minister, the officer’s condition is “currently stable and the operation was a success.” MORE: https://globalnews.ca/news/7437658/vienna-synagogue-shooting/ For more info, please go to http://www.globalnews.ca Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on Twitter HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #ViennaShooting #GlobalNews #Austria

In This Story: North Macedonia

North Macedonia (Macedonia until February 2019), officially the Republic of North Macedonia, is a country in Southeast Europe. It gained independence in 1991 as one of the successor states of Yugoslavia. It constitutes approximately the northern third of the larger geographical region of Macedonia. Skopje, the capital and largest city, is home to a quarter of the country’s 2.06 million population. The majority of the residents are ethnic Macedonians, a South Slavic people. Albanians form a significant minority at around 25%, followed by Turks, Romani, Serbs, Bosniaks, and Aromanians.

The country became a member of the United Nations in April 1993, but as a result of a dispute with Greece over the name “Macedonia”, it was admitted under the provisional description “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” (abbreviated as “FYR Macedonia” or “FYROM”). In June 2018, Macedonia and Greece resolved the dispute with an agreement that the country should rename itself “Republic of North Macedonia”. This renaming came into effect in February 2019.
