South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Veterinary clinic in India cares for pets of Covid-19 patients amid nationwide health crisis” – below is their description.
A clinic in India’s southeastern city of Chennai has been taking care of pets that belong to people who are fighting Covid-19 infections. Veterinary surgeons at the clinic have been busy reassuring people that the animals have a low risk of catching and spreading the coronavirus. Clinic owner Dr R. Sokkalingam said they are also temporarily taking in pets if all members of the owner’s family are ill and unable to care for the animals. A small number of pets worldwide have been reported to be infected with the virus after close contact with humans, but the risk of domestic animals spreading Covid-19 to people is considered low, according to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
