ITV News published this video item, entitled “Veterans from UK’s first Pride mark 50th anniversary of event | ITV News” – below is their description.
Fifty years ago today the first ever Gay Pride march was held in central London.
Just a few hundred people took part in what was a political protest for equality.
Half a century on, it’s now a mainstream event attended by around 30 thousand people.
Leading activist Peter Tatchell, however, has said the main Pride event in London has become “too corporate and commercial” and has lost the human rights dimension.
