Venezuela crisis tops US Vice President Pence’s agenda in Chile

US Vice President Mike Pence is in Chile as part of his tour of Latin American countries to promote harsher regional measures against Venezuela.

The South American country has seen near-daily demonstrations, with pro- and anti-government protesters taking to the streets since the end of the March.

The US has described Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s government as a “dictatorship”.

Al Jazeera’s Latin America editor Lucia Newman reports from Santiago, Chile.
