Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Venezuela-Colombia border reopens to trade as tensions ease” – below is their description.
Colombia and Venezuela reopened cargo commerce on Monday, potentially enabling billions of dollars in trade after years-long closure.
People along the shared border hope it will boost the economy in an area deeply affected by the conflict between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations, which had been severed since 2019, were restored in August by newly-elected Colombian President Gustavo Petro and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro.
Al Jazeera’s @Alessandro Rampietti reports from the border town of Cucuta, Colombia.
