  • HK pro-democracy tabloid Apple Daily increases production after police raid
  • Iran votes in presidential poll tipped in hard-liner’s favour
  • FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “Vaccine patent, Spain regional elections, UK fishing row, Napoleon bicentenary” – below is their description.

A stunning 180 degree turn. The Biden administration announcing that the United States would now support waiving exclusive rights to Covid vaccine formulas owned by the pharmaceutical giants who manufacture doses on U-S soil. An idea pushed by India and South Africa as far back as October. At first, France also seemed to reverse course. On Thursday, when Emmanuel Macron visited a vaccination center, he seemed to reverse France’s own position and express cautious approval of Biden’s patent waiver idea… but by the time an E-U summit got underway a day later in Porto, the message had – shall we say – evolved.
