    Vaccinations are underway at the sites of Canada’s latest COVID-19 hot spots, Alberta’s oil sands, where more than a dozen outbreaks have made hundreds of workers sick.

    One company, Suncor Energy Inc. will delay a planned maintenance shutdown at its Base Plant oil sands mine in light of surging COVID-19 outbreaks that led to a state of emergency being declared last week for the Fort McMurray area of northern Alberta.

    Heather Yourex-West looks at the vaccination efforts underway, and how the problem goes beyond that province’s borders.
