US Space Force launches first national security mission amid virus outbreak

The US Space Force has launched its first national security mission.

The Atlas V rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station amid virus outbreak.

The 13,600-pound (6,168 kilogram) satellite was hoisted into the air on Thursday, although the viewing point was closed to the public.

The US Space Force was established in December as the new branch of the US Armed Forces.
