US election: Utah’s Mormons at odds with Trump

The US mountainous western state of Utah has been a Republican stronghold for decades.

Many Utah residents belong to the socially and politically conservative Latter Day Saints, or Mormon church.

But some are rejecting Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, whose policies and personal style are at odds with Mormon religious culture and history.
