The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “US east coast battered by ‘historic’ snow storm” – below is their description.
A historic bombogenesis snow storm is battering the east coast of the United States, with New Yorkers being told to stay home “with a six pack of beer and wait it out”.
More than two feet of snow is expected in some areas, while hurricane-force winds have also been recorded. Thousands of flights have been cancelled and more than 100,000 people are without power in Massachusetts.
Forecasters say the storm will undergo bombogenesis, meaning that colder air is expected to mix with warmer sea air, leading to a swift drop in atmospheric pressure. The process leads to a so-called bomb cyclone.
The nor’easter thrashed parts of 10 states and hit major cities including Philadelphia, New York and Boston.
